Cross Connection Control
Program & Resources
Updated: 08/2026
Welcome to the Leeds Domestic Waterusers Association’s (LDWA)
Cross Connection Control Program.
This program is designed to help protect the quality and safety of the water we provide to our shareholders and community.
LDWA works to reduce the risk of contamination or pollution in our water system by identifying and addressing potential cross connections. A cross connection occurs when drinking water may come into contact with a source of contamination, and backflow prevention helps keep unsafe water or substances from entering the public water supply.
To meet state and local requirements, LDWA’s program includes reviewing properties and facilities where cross connection hazards may exist, educating shareholders about backflow prevention, and requiring proper protection such as approved backflow prevention assemblies or approved air gaps. When a backflow prevention assembly is required, it must be installed, maintained, and tested annually as required by applicable regulations and plumbing codes.
By working together and following these preventive measures, LDWA shareholders help safeguard our shared water system and support the Association’s commitment to providing high-quality water for the community.
